Slowly but surely Europe is figuring out that as a result of the western economic and financial blockade of Russian, it is Europe itself that is suffering the most. And while Germany was first to acknowledge this late in 2014 when its economy swooned and is now on the verge of a recession, now others are catching on. Case in point: the former head of the European Commission, and Italy’s former Prime Minister, Romano Prodi who told Messaggero newspaper that the “weaker Russian economy is extremely unprofitable for Italy.” Continue reading Russia’s “Startling” Proposal To Europe: Dump The US, Join The Eurasian Economic Union
Russia has adopted an updated version of its military doctrine, which reflects the emergence of new threats against its national security. NATO military buildup and American Prompt Global Strike concept are listed among them.
The new doctrine was approved on Friday by President Vladimir Putin. Its core remains unchanged from the previous version. The Russian military remains a defensive tool which the country pledges to use only as a last resort.
Also unchanged are the principles of the use of nuclear weapons which Russia adheres to. Their primary goal is to deter potential enemies from attacking Russia, but it would use them to protect itself from a military attack – either nuclear or conventional – threatening its existence. Damascus, SANA – Speaker of Iran’s Shura Council Ali Larijani said Sunday the issue of combating terrorism is not a matter of concern for Syria only, stressing that many of the region’s countries are involved in fighting the terrorist groups.
Given this “key point” that should be taken into consideration, support must be provided to Syria, government and people, in its fight against terrorism, said Larijani, addressing a press conference held jointly with the People’s Assembly’s Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham.
He dismissed the claim of those who have been killing and got engaged in wars over years to be fighting in the name of establishing democracy, stressing that the matter is one that has nothing to do with democracy.
Larijani promised that Iran will spare no effort to provide support to Syria come to finding a solution to its crisis, pointing out that there are close contacts with the Russians and that the deliberations on the Russian initiative to resolve the crisis are on. Over the past month, attacks on both oil and the Rouble have created economic turmoil around the world, and especially in the economies of Russia and the European Union. And despite the fact that the United States has chosen Ukraine as ground zero for instigating pressure against Russia and the Russian currency, one superpower has sat on the sidelines until today when on Dec. 17, China stepped forward and offered full aid and assurances to Russia in their ongoing proxy war with Washington.
Until yesterday, Russia was believed to be isolated and under immense economic pressures from both the U.S. and Europe over what has been labeled ‘aggressions against Ukraine’. However, the underlying truth is that Ukraine has little or nothing to do with the war on the Rouble and on the Russian economy, and the U.S. is simply using the Eurasian country as a scapegoat for Putin’s chess moves against the petro-dollar and America’s hegemony over the global reserve currency.
Russia could fall back on its 150 billion yuan (HK$189.8 billion) currency swap agreement with China if the rouble continues to plunge. Continue reading China steps into U.S. currency war against Russia and offers Putin major support

So the EU “defeated” Putin by forcing him to cancel the South Stream pipeline. Thus ruled Western corporate media.
Facts on the ground spell otherwise. This “Pipelineistan” gambit will continue to send massive geopolitical shockwaves all across Eurasia for quite some time.
In a nutshell, a few years ago Russia devised Nord Stream – fully operational – and South Stream – still a project – to bypass unreliable Ukraine as a gas transit nation.
Now Russia devised a new deal with Turkey to bypass the “non-constructive” (Putin’s words) approach of the European Commission (EC). Continue reading “Turk Stream”: Huge Win for Turkey – Big Win For Russia – Historic Loss for EU

There is wide recognition among Russia’s political and financial elites the country will continue to be in conflict with the West for the foreseeable future.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s incredible poll numbers tell him he has the support of the public for the policy agenda he chooses. This makes both Putin and Russia feel confident.
For years Putin has made it abundantly clear in his speeches Russia is not happy with the global status quo. His address to the Federation Council this week is evidence of this. As far as Putin is concerned, the entire international system is rigged to Washington’s advantage. The very existence of the U.S. dollar ensures Washington and its closest allies will never allow a fair playing field. That said, Putin is not eager to see the current global system collapse. He wants more political equality, but he also knows Russia and other emerging powers face punishment for challenging and breaking with the Washington designed global consensus.
