“With the intelligence provided by the terrorist groups and the Takfiri forces to Israeli spy agency, the ground was paved for the martyrdom of Hezbollah forces while on a mission in Quneitra region in Syria by the Zionist regime,” Sanayee Raad told FNA on Sunday.
Damascus, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem stressed that Israel is an essential part of the conspiracy against Syria, noting that the government is commissioned to help make Moscow meeting a success.
Al-Moallem stressed in an interview with the Syrian al-Ikhbariya TV channel, aired Tuesday evening, that Israel seeks, through the US, to prolong the crisis in Syria as much as possible.
He dismissed Israel’s aggression against Hizbullah in the southern province of Quneitra, which took place few days ago, as “transgression against the Syrian sovereignty and a brazen act of aggression against the Syrian territory.” Continue reading Al-Moallem: Israel is key part of conspiracy, we will put every effort to make Moscow meeting a success

On January 8, in his sparsely-furnished New York City office, the Syrian Arab Republic Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar al-Ja’afari, sat down with Al-Akhbar for an interview. The veteran diplomat, who has held his position at the UN since 2006, and lives restricted to a 25-mile radius of New York City, has much more to say than the half hour allowed. Defiant as always, he discussed the challenges he faces at the UN, explained why he thinks the organization has lost its way, and censured Western states and media for their hostility toward the Syrian government. Overtly, the Israeli superpower of the Middle East has been keen to posture as having no role whatsoever in the four-year old devastating conflict in Syria, where all major regional and international powers are politically and militarily deeply involved and settling scores by Syrian blood.
In his geopolitical weekly analysis, entitled “The Islamic State Reshapes the Middle East”, on November 25 Stratfor’s George Friedman raised eyebrows when he reviewed the effects which the terrorist group had on all regional powers, but seemed unaware of the existence of the Israeli regional superpower.
It was an instructive omission that says a lot about the no more discreet role Israel is playing to maintain what the Israeli commentator Amos Harel described as the “stable instability” in Syria and the region, from the Israeli perspective of course. Speaking in an interview with Iran’s state-run TV on Monday, Halqi described Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan’s role in Syria as not just “unconstructive” but “destructive”, and said, “These countries no more see the Zionist regime as their enemy and have entered the war against the Syrian people in an alliance with the regime.”
He expressed confidence that the Syrian people and army would soon clean their country from the terrorists, and said, “2015 will be a determining year for Syria.”
Asked about Western attempts to impose a no-fly zone over Syria, specially in the Northern parts of the country, Halqi said, “They are after the disintegration of Syria to meet the Zionist regime’s interests, but the Syrian government and nation will never accept such humiliation.”
