Sheikh Zakzaky Is Now Spending His 2nd Straight Ramadan Unjustly Imprisoned… Where Are The Muslims Speaking Up For Him?

by Jonathan Azaziah

As we reach the midway point of Ramadan, we come to an exceptionally dark and painful anniversary that all Muslims, regardless of their school of thought, should be reflecting on, praying about and doing everything in their power to change: It’s now been 17 months since Nigerian revolutionary shooting star Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub al-Zakzaky was unjustly thrown into prison along with his wife Sayyeda Zeenat, a giant in her own right, and several of his companions, directly after the US-Saudi-Zionist-backed Nigerian Army of criminals massacred over 1,000 of his partisans in Zaria. It is one of the most horrifying (ongoing) injustices of our time and yet, the overall response from Muslims in the Arab-Islamic world itself as well as the Western Diaspora has been a fusion of pathetic, shameful and abysmal. The silence on the Sheikh, a saintly personality who has brought millions upon millions of Nigerians to Islam, taught them how World Zionism dominates the globe and instilled in them a fierce commitment to the Palestinian cause, continues even at this moment in our Holiest of Holy Months.

So as unfortunate as it is, the questions that I have asked for the last 550 days must be reiterated again here and now. Why this staggering quiet?! Is it because the Sheikh is Black, and African/Nigerian at that, and there is still so much hideous and vile anti-Black racism among Arab and Asian Muslims that is very prevalent despite their claims to the contrary? Or is it because Zakzaky is Shi’a, and thanks to Saudi-Qatari-Emirati petro-cash, violent and despicable sectarianism has become normalized across the globe, and thus, the fate of a cleric from the “Rafidah” isn’t a concern? Or perhaps it is because the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) is a militant Anti-Zionist, Anti-Imperialist and Anti-Takfiri voice of Mouqawamism who has not and shall not compromise on his principles, and the average Westoxified “social justice activist” Muslim, be they Sunni or Shi’a, just can’t be associated with such “extremist” views? Or better still, is it an amalgamation of all of the above? Not to mention, GRANDIOSE cowardice. Whatever the case is, it’s unacceptable in too many ways to enumerate.

One of the most important Islamic figures of all-time is sitting in a prison cell on utterly baseless charges for the 2nd Ramadan in a row, and he’s being torturously denied medical care by the tyrannical, Judaized Buhari regime, and Muslims have taken a powder. They’re just ghost! It’s so odd though because… Muslims mobilized for the Zionist Jews’ puppet Obama. And they mobilized again for the Zionist Jews’ perpetually murderous minion Killary Clinton. They mobilized in Canada for the liberal deceiver Justin Trudeau. And we see Muslims going to bat for the mealy-mouthed Jeremy Corbyn in the UK too. But Zakzaky? A man who has seen 6 of his sons martyred, who has dedicated his whole life to freeing Nigeria from its colonialist shackles and who stands with Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain, Iran and Hizbullah in the face of Empire Judaica? “Muslims” see, hear and speak nothing of it.

We’ve reached out. We’ve encouraged. We’ve insisted. We’ve screamed. We’ve even downright begged. But after 17 months, all of that empathy is dried up like the blood of the IMN martyrs buried underneath the rubble of Zakzaky’s Husseiniyyah Baqiyatullah. It’s enough. If you choose silence over speaking out for the Sheikh, then you are not merely apathetic, you’re atrociously complicit. Imam Hussein (A.S.) said it best, “Those who are silent when others are oppressed are guilty of oppression of themselves.” And there are none on Earth more representative of the Moustazafeen than Zakzaky. So what does that say about those who oppress him and those who don’t have the guts to open up their yaps for him? Well. I think that punchline writes itself, now doesn’t it? #FreeZakzaky #LongLiveZakzaky #JusticeForZaria #DeathToTheBuhariRegime
