Last month marked the 3-year anniversary of the Zaria Massacre in which over 1,000 Nigerian Shi’a were murdered by Muhammadu Buhari’s US-‘Israeli’-Saudi-backed military on orders from “Tel Aviv” and its Washington ZOG-dog. The slaughter culminated in the imprisonment of Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub al-Zakzaky, his wife Sayyeda Zeenat and several hundred activists from the Islamic Movement of Nigeria. We are now at month 37 since this horrific atrocity was committed with impunity and the Khomeini of Africa was thrown into a cell on completely, utterly, massively, ABSURDLY false charges.
While there is certainly enough blame to go around vis-a-vis the failure to raise awareness for the Lion of Zaria and the Shouhada (R.A.) of his movement… From Shirazi extremists masquerading as Shi’a to Wahhabi-Takfiris masquerading as Sunnis… To actual Shi’a and Sunnis whose politics are terrible and whose courage-levels are minimal… To “human rights” activists and “Palestine Solidarity” campaigners who are all immersed in globs on top of mounds of hypocrisy and racism… That shall be set aside for another today. The world at large, specifically those young and fiery souls across the Islamicate who are hungry for a champion of the oppressed that they can call their own, should get to know the man… The Sheikh… the revolutionary… the Saint that is Zakzaky. If you know him, you will love him. And if you love him, you will fight for him.
The Islamic Movement of Nigeria’s leader was born on the 15th of Sha’ban in 1372 A.H. (May 5th, 1953) to Sunni Muslim parents in Zaria–a city which would later become sanctified for all its Martyrs and become known as the Nigerian Karbala. He can trace his lineage back to Mali to steadfast Islamic revolutionaries who challenged the illegitimate colonialist rule of Rothschild-financed France and sought to establish an Islamic government. One of his ancestors was not so coincidentally named Imam Hussein (R.A.) From his earliest days, he had expressed an interest in both politics as well as Islam and was a prodigy in his global and religious insight, understanding just as young that the two were inextricably linked. He began his Arabic studies at the Fata Provincial Arabic School in 1969 at the tender age of 16, two years earlier than the overwhelming majority of most students, and was so gifted, it only took him two more years (instead of four) to complete his studies. He then moved upwards to the next level, heading to the School of Arabic Studies in Kano, studying diligently for 5 years (1971-1976) and obtaining the Grade II Certificate. His dominant command of Arabic also propelled him into becoming a Hafez of the Holy Qur’an.
Sheikh Zakzaky’s thirst for knowledge could not be quenched however and he began taking classes at Ahmadu Bello University in Economics. As expected, he excelled in this field too and completed the course to attain a first-class Bachelor’s Degree. But the achievement would be denied to him by the military coup regime of Olusegun Obasanjo over his political stances and Islamic activism. Indeed, Zakzaky had been engaged in Dawah from the moment he had a basic command of the language of Rasoulallah (S.A.W.W.), and, despite his youth, was one of the few personalities in the whole of Nigeria who had the fortitude to upset the apple-cart of the kleptocratic, illegitimate government running Nigeria into the ground. He openly and vocally slammed the Obasanjo regime for collaborating with hegemonic America and the the godless Soviet Union as well as taking money from the Zionist-controlled World Bank.
The corrupt putschist was supposed to be investing the cash he was loaned in agricultural efforts in Bauchi, Borno, Sokoto and Zakzaky’s home-state of Kaduna, but pocketed everything instead. The American ZOG didn’t mind nor did the British ZOG because “President” Olusegun was their ally against Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe–a figure, his Marxist ideology aside, that the Sheikh saluted for standing up to the ‘Israeli’-backed apartheid regime of Ian Smith. Zaria’s Tiger condemned Obasanjo for this treachery too. And the Sheikh also had zero issue with calling a fig a fig and pointing the finger at the CIA for assassinating Obasanjo’s predecessor, Murtala Mohammed, and waging a war on the revolutionary family of outspoken Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, including the murder of his mother Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti. The CIA’s involvement in destabilizing his own country, and repressing some of its most prominent revolutionaries, prompted him to launch inquires into the lives of other Black, Brown, Muslim and oppressed peoples who had been hurt by the world’s most powerful intelligence agency.
His militancy against imperialism grew and his horizons expanded as he became a staunch, eloquent advocate for the liberation of Palestine and the expulsion of all colonizers from the Islamicate and the Motherland, no matter where they were. There was one fluid situation that he couldn’t take his eyes off though. The goings-on in Iran. And there was a figure who was moving him more and more every time that he learned something new about him: Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini (R.A.) His entire life, all Zakzaky could think of was Islam taking its rightful place as the system of governance not only for Nigerians but all of humanity.
While still at Ahmadu Bello University, he joined the Muslim Student Society and became a larger-than-life figure both on campus and at the national level. The Sheikh had a unique combination of an unmistakable charisma coupled with humbleness that even drew Muslims who weren’t particularly religious back to their Islamic duties and into the struggle in defense of the Deen. He ultimately became Secretary-General of the organization and led the countrywide demonstrations that culminated in Shari’a being added to the Nigerian constitution, undermining the American-Colonialist overtones. It was imperative for Islam to be at the forefront of our everyday lives, from our homes to our capitals, he thought often.
Then February 11th, 1979 rolled around and a miracle occurred. Khomeini (R.A.), now known as the Imam of the Islamic Revolution, with tens of millions of revolutionary Iranian Muslims to the left and right of him, had overthrown the Shah. In that moment, Sheikh Zakzaky knew that his life would never be the same. He felt it in his bones and his soul that this triumph, this heaven-sent person and the ideology at the heart of it all, were the missing pieces to the puzzle. It took him not much more than a minute to decide he was going to scrape some money together for a ticket to Iran. His closest friend and now-martyred deputy, Sheikh Muhammad Mahmoud Turi (R.A.), helped him get over the edge so he could make the trip.
Upon his arrival in Iran, he could feel the winds of change–Islamic winds of Islamic change, that is–all around him. The arrogance and the decadence of the Shah was being washed away by the Holy Qur’an, the Sunnah and the living light of Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) Rumors were abound in Tehran about a young Nigerian man who was on a mission to meet and learn from Imam Khomeini (R.A.) As the Islamic Revolution wasn’t only for all Iranians or even all Muslims, but rather the whole world, Sayyed Ruhollah (R.A.) eagerly embraced the prospect of building with Zakzaky. From all accounts, their first encounter was electric. They conversed in Arabic and the Kaleidoscope of Khomein (R.A.) spoke at length about the 12 Infallibles (R.A.) Zaria’s Comet absorbed every word. He was moved – to modify a well-known idiom – beyond his old belief(s). Almost immediately thereafter, the Nigerian revolutionary began identifying as a Shi’a Muslim in the Jaafari tradition. Zakzaky, already a Sheikh in his own right, was so far advanced in his knowledge of Islam, Islamic history and specifically the life of the Prophet (S.A.W.W.), Khomeini (R.A.) and his deputies, including Ayatollah Dr. Sayyed Muhammad Hosseini Beheshti (R.A.), elevated his rank immediately to Hujjat al-Islam.
Imam Khomeini (R.A.) instructed Sheikh Zakzaky that he already had all the tools he needed and told him sternly that the impact he’d leave on history would be of an immeasurable value. Humble to ecstatic tears, the heir to Malian-Nigerian anti-colonialist nobles departed the land of the Muhammadi-Husseini-Khomeiniist springs back to his homeland just before the US-UK-‘Israeli’-backed Imposed War on Iran by Saddam Hussein began. Fresh off the plane, he began his mission of preaching Islam through the Shi’a lens. The impact on the people of Zaria and all of Kaduna, one of Nigeria’s most destitute regions, was immense and swift. Zakzaky relished in telling the story of Ashoura and the triumph of Imam Hussein (A.S.) through his blood, courage, faith, dignity and opposition to injustice over the tyrant Yazid (L.A.) With Nigeria experiencing one military coup and one illegitimate despot after another every time the people turned around, it’s no surprise to why the pain and resistance of Aba Abdallah (A.S.) resonated with them. It was like the sequel to the Islamic Revolution was unfolding in Zaria… Like Sheikh Zakzaky was becoming the Khomeini of Nigeria and perhaps all of Africa.
But the Nigerian regime was petrified of the Sheikh and barely months after his Husseini awakening in Iran and subsequent return to Nigerian soil, the “democratic” regime of UK-Saudi stooge Shehu Sagari, who had paid fealty to both “Queen” Elizabeth and “King” Khaled (L.A.), threw him into Enugu Prison from 1981 to 1984 on the bogus allegations of “sedition” and “inciting disaffection to the government”. These fake citations would haunt Sheikh Zakzaky for the next three decades. Nothing but Orwellian euphemisms for repression of anyone who expressed Anti-Zionist, Anti-Imperialist and anti-dictatorship views.
Muhammadu Buhari, the psychopathic mass murderer behind the Zaria Massacre and current torturer of the Sheikh, would overthrow Sagari and move Zakzaky to the barbaric Interrogation Center of NSO in Lagos from 1984-1985, as well as Kiri-Kiri Maximum Security in that same time frame. The Sheikh was released and bore witness to another military coup. This time it was Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, another US-UK-trained goon, toppling Buhari. Zakzaky was only free for a little under 2 years before his criticisms of the new regime for being in the pay of ‘Israel’, the IMF and Washington got him locked up again, this time in the prisons of Kaduna and Port Harcourt from 1987-1989.
It would take 7 more years before Zakzaky saw the inside of a cell again. And once more, it was his steadfast commitment to the promulgation of Islamic principles and ideas that sent a quantum surge through the spine of the corrupt Nigerian regime, now in the hands of Sani Abacha. The Sheikh declared that, “There is no government except that of Islam.” It wasn’t more than an hour or two before Abacha’s thugs stormed into the Zaria Starfire’s residence and dragged him back to Kaduna Prison and then to Port Harcourt. Zakzaky endured another two-year bid stretching from 1996-1998 where he was reportedly beaten, tortured and psychologically abused. Abacha had been a tool of Rothschild-controlled Royal Dutch Shell as well as MI6, which, alongside the British military, had trained him whilst he was in the UK, and had intimate ties to the “Christian” Zionist fanatics in America known as “The Fellowship”. No wonder he had such a disdain for Zaria’s Luminosity. Factoring in his current plight, Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub al-Zakzaky has been jailed on 9 different occasions over the last 3+ decades across half a dozen prisons (that we know of) and for no other “crime” but speaking Haqq to power.
Despite all of this mind-numbing oppression however, the Sheikh never wavered. In fact, his resolve was only strengthened with every failed attack on his person. He became a true polyglot in and out of the bing, adding fluent Farsi, English and Spanish to his native Hausa and exceptional Arabic. He ascended to Ayatollah and founded the Islamic Movement of Nigeria during his first unjust stint in prison with the sole purpose of enlightening Muslims spiritually in addition to intellectually and leading them down a revolutionary path like that of Imam Hussein (A.S.), Abou Fadhl al-Abbas (A.S.) and Lady Zaynab al-Kubra (A.S.)
The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has established a network of more than 300 schools called Al-Fudiyyah, named after the illuminating Sunni-Sufi ‘alim and Jihadi Commander Sheikh Usman Ibn Fodio (R.A.) Mosques and Husseiniyahs were also built. Nigeria’s most widely-circulated Hausa newspaper, Al-Mizan, belongs to Zakzaky’s partisans. Other papers and magazines were brought into being too. He also built homeless shelters, a soup kitchen and a Martyrs Foundation for the brave souls who were ready to die for the Islamic Revolution and the defeat of the Nigerian ZOG. The growing number of members bankrolled the majority of these endeavors themselves, with the only foreign funding coming from Iran, which chipped in as much as it could despite being under siege from Saddam Hussein and the ZOGified West in the 80s and a US-UN-EU sanctions regime designed by Zionist Lobby powerhouse AIPAC in the 90s which is enforced up until this very moment.
Now time for some mathematics. Before 1979, at least officially, there were approximately zero Shi’a Muslims in Nigeria. We’ll repeat that for the sake of drama: Before 1979, at least officially, there were approximately ZERO Shi’a Muslims in Nigeria. Fast forward to the here and now, today, and there are more than TEN MILLION SHI’A MUSLIMS–of which, at least half were non-Muslim prior to joining the Islamic Movement of Nigeria. Got it? TEN MILLION SHI’A MUSLIMS. And that’s just a ballpark estimate. It very well could be more. That means, in terms of sheer numerical data per capita, not to mention the time it took to reach such a number, Sheikh Zakzaky has brought more people to Islam and in a faster period than anyone in ISLAMIC HISTORY apart from Rasoulallah (S.A.W.W.) and Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) themselves. This affords him a status of unparalleled rank within the pantheon of Islam’s Guardians, Saints and Ayatollahs. Emphasis on unparalleled. Like his teacher and inspiration Imam Khomeini (R.A.), there won’t ever be another like him.
Add in the fact that he helped stop tribal conflicts in his native Kaduna State and elsewhere in the country, built bridges with Sunnis across the political spectrum and bettered relations with Christians, establishing long-term friendships with each respective community in a clear thwarting of Zionist-Saudi-Western attempts to split Nigerians on ethno-sectarian lines, and we have yet another comparison we can make: Zakzaky is the Sayyed Moussa al-Sadr of Nigeria. Because like the disappeared Lebanese-Iranian Mouqawamist legend, the Sheikh only strives for unity.
Coupled with this staggering and utterly remarkable achievement is the TYPE of Islam that Zakzaky did it with. Not the “American” Islam that Imam Khomeini (R.A.) spent a great deal of his time warning against and exposing. Not the “quietist” Islam adopted by too many Shi’a ‘ulema who saw their role as religious teachers, not political rabble-rousers, in direct contradiction with the ultra-political essence of Islam. What Zakzaky taught and proselytized was the Islam of Imam Hussein (A.S.), which chanted “Hayhat Minna Zilla (Us? Humiliated?! Never, ever!)” at Shaytan’s son Yazid (L.A.); the Islam of Zayd Ibn Ali (A.S.), who stood up to Hisham ibn Abdul Malik (L.A.) with the towering presence of giants standing on the shoulders of MORE giants; and of course the Islam of Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini (R.A.), who stared into the abyss presented by the Shah and his Zio-backers and said, “Respect this regime? Please. I will slap the FACE of this regime.” So on top of bringing 10 million souls–again, half of which being non-Muslims previously–to Islam, he also brought 10 million souls to the revolutionary ideology of Wilayet al-Faqih. That means he created 10 million soldiers of Anti-Zionism; 10 million soldiers of Anti-Imperialism; 10 million champions of the Palestinian cause; and 10 million champions of Mouqawamist doctrine. Labaykah ya Zakzaky!
Lecturing and holding seminars in Iran, Lebanon, Sudan, South Africa, Russia, America, Mali, the US, the UK, Saudi-occupied Hijaz and elsewhere, he took his resistant fervor on the road, speaking to anyone who would listen about the virtues of Imam Khomeini (R.A.), the righteousness of Wilayet al-Faqih and the power of understanding Islam from the Husseini-Zaynabi perspective. He has passionately critiqued the international hegemonic order led by the American ZOG and fiercely smashed Jewish supremacy, reminding his listeners in 2008 that those Yahoudlings who uphold World Zionism are “the lowest of ALLAH’s (SWT) creatures”. Also in 2008, he brilliantly summed up the illegal foundation of the artificial Zionist regime, “While ‘Israel’ celebrates 60 years of occupying Palestine’s land, we are mourning because the truth is, the ‘Israeli’ entity was created on the basis of terrorism and what is not yours, simply, is not yours, nor could it ever be. It matters not how many years of oppression have passed, what is unjust remains unjust and anyone who upheld such injustice will slip someday along with those supporting them. And make no mistake, ‘Israel’ will fall with its allies certainly.”
Contributing to the liberation of Palestine is central to Zakzaky’s entire platform. It’s why he has stressed the profound importance of observing International Al-Quds Day and held numerous conferences every year on the best way forward to battling Zionism on the political, intellectual, cultural and spiritual levels. Three of his sons, Ahmad (22), Hameed (20) and Mahmoud (18), were slaughtered by the Nigerian Army during an International Al-Quds Day rally on July 26th, 2014. His other three sons, Hammad (17), Ali (15) and Humaid (13), were murdered in the Zaria Massacre. They all loved Palestine as much as their father and were deeply committed to seeing it freed, even Humaid, the youngest–may ALLAH (SWT) grant them all a place in the most glorious Gardens of Jannah.
In recent times, due to the offensive by Organized Jewish Interests and its marionettes against the Resistance Axis as well as an increase in criminality against several oppressed peoples across the Islamicate, Zakzaky’s voice has thundered louder than ever against Zio-Imperialist meddling and in solidarity with Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, occupied Kashmir, occupied Palestine and the Lebanese Islamic Resistance of Hizbullah–raising his partisans’ international awareness and thus connecting them to the Ummah in an even greater way in line with the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.)
Prior to concluding, we must also acknowledge that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Two-Time Liberator of Lebanon who we refer to as our guide and our pride, is an admirer (and protector) of Sheikh Zakzaky. When the Sheikh visited Lebanon in the summer of 2012, Hizbullah cadre Sheikh Hassan Hamoudi presented him with the Red Flag that drapes the Golden Dome of Imam Hussein’s (A.S.) shrine in Karbala as a personal gift from Sayyed Abou Hadi himself. The banner is changed every year and it is only given to those of the most upstanding and pure character. That Hizbullah’s Secretary-General wanted the Islamic Movement of Nigeria founder to have it… Speaks volumes above, beyond and over anything written here on just who Zakzaky is and why he is such monumental personality. Iran views the Sheikh in an equally high regard, hence why it opened up an office for him on the sanctified grounds of Imam Reza’s (A.S.) shrine in Mashhad, overseen by his daughter Dr. Nusaibah Ibrahim Zakzaky.
Taking all of this into account, how can anyone NOT come to the aid of this astonishing and transcendent figure? A warrior of Islam. A knight for the Palestinian cause. A spark of light against the Imperium of Global Zionism. An unbroken voice of resistance on the behalf of all Moustazafeen in the Earth’s four corners. That is Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub al-Zakzaky. Thanks to a ruling from the Abuja division of Nigeria’s Federal High Court, Zakzaky and his wife Sayyeda Zeenat should’ve been released by the end of January 2017, paid nearly $160,000.00 in compensation and provided new accommodations as well since their home, the Husseinyyah Baqiyatullah, where the Red Flag of Imam Hussein’s (A.S.) Golden Dome had been flying, was destroyed by the Nigerian military ‘Israeli’-bulldozer-style. Yet he remains locked up. Vision gone from one of his eyes after the unspeakable events of December 12th-14th, 2015 and in relatively poor health overall. Sayyeda Zeenat’s health isn’t much better. Words are lost on how abysmal this is.
Without question, Zakzaky is the Khomeini of Africa and one of the most vital revolutionaries to ever breathe. And we do mean… EVER. He is a paragon of virtue and has lived a life of struggle and loss so close to that of Imam Hussein (A.S.), it is frightening. Such a gargantuan spirit should never be alone. His name and his victories should be on the lips of everyone with an interest in liquidating Empire Zionica. It is incumbent upon every free-thinking, Mouqawamist-minded Muslim and decent human being to demand with screams from the tops of their lungs that he be released.
It’s been 37 months. Baseless charges thrown at him by arguably Nigeria’s worst post-colonial regime that doesn’t give one hoot even about what its own Federal High Court has to say… Because it’s Netanyahu’s auxiliary. 37 months of hell. With 12 years of his life in total now spent in Nigerian ZOG prisons, Zakzaky is looking more and more like Imam Moussa al-Kazim (A.S.), who was battered for 20 years in the dungeons of Haroun al-Rashid (L.A.) and company. Nigeria’s Chief Moujahid is operating with the 7th Imam’s (A.S.) steadfastness too. Shed tears for the Sheikh, sure. But then SHRED propaganda and media blackouts for him after the fact. He needs your voice. He needs ALL… of our voices. And with everything he’s done for Islam, it should be nothing less than the highest honor for us to raise them. Sky-high. #FreeZakzaky #LongLiveZakzaky
