Iran’s Supreme Leader has permitted a limited group of Iranian youth to fight along with “Iraqi, Syrian and Lebanese brothers,” according to Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammed Ali Jafari.
Jafari, while addressing a ceremony in Tehran last Friday, mentioned discussions he had with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, saying that “despite the number of youth who are permitted to join the fighting (outside Iran), no one else should leave the country” for resistance abroad, the Iranian Mashregh news agency reported.
Jafari hailed Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement for taking “revenge” for the recent Israeli air raid on the Syrian Golan Heights. Jafari said that “Hezbollah’s recent attack on Israel was a response with the lowest degree of severity and we hope that they take the lesson not to repeat such mistakes (in future).”
Hezbollah fired anti-tank missiles at an Israeli military convoy that was driving inside occupied Lebanese territory in the south on Wednesday January 28, killing two occupation soldiers. Israel responded by attacking a Lebanese army base, killing a UN observer force member, as well as indiscriminately shelling southern Lebanese towns.
The attack came ten days after an Israeli helicopter struck Quneitra in Syria’s Golan Heights, killing Iranian General Mohammed Ali Allahdadi as well as the son of slain Hezbollah top commander Imad Mughniyeh and five other Hezbollah members.
The Iranian commander stated that Israel is afraid of the capabilities of the resistance movement and “that is the reason why it carries out terrorist attacks on the lives of Hezbollah commanders.”
He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hezbollah have a united response to Israel.
“We are united with Hezbollah and wherever our martyrs’ blood mix, our response (to the enemy) would be one single response,” Jafari added.
He also warned that from now on the Israeli regime should not feel safe in any part of the world, adding, “If Hezbollah cells decide to give a response to the Zionists’ recent move, they (the Israelis) should wait for more crushing and stronger responses not only alongside their borders but in every part of the world where an Israeli Zionist or their supporters are present,” according to Fars news agency.
Other Iranian officials have echoed Jafari’s stance in regards to Hezbollah’s January 22 attack on a convoy of Israeli forces in the Israeli-occupied Lebanese Shebaa farms.
On Friday, Deputy Commander of the IRGC Major General Mohammed Hussein Nejat praised Hezbollah’s reaction, Fars news agency reported.
“Hezbollah showed that it has the upper hand, and that nowhere in Israel is safe now and the Israelis should wait for their death everyday,” Nejat announced.
Besides Iran’s military figures, politicians has also lauded Hezbollah’s retaliatory operation.
On Saturday, Vice-Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Hassan Aboutorabi Fard said that Hezbollah’s latest operation showed the weaknesses of the Israeli army.
“Muslim fighters have made the Zionist regime weak and incapable through the crushing response of the resistance forces,” Aboutorabi Fard added.
