Feast your eyes on a sight–beautiful, dazzling, shimmering Iraq–that can only be described as breathtaking. Over 20 million pilgrims from 60 different countries entered the holy Iraqi city of Karbala to mark Arbaeen today, the end of the 40-day mourning period for Imam Hussein’s (A.S.) martyrdom. It is not only we Shi’a who are marching and demonstrating on these santicified sands to celebrate the sacrifice, the heroism, the steadfastness and the RESISTANCE of Aba Abdallah (A.S.) and the Karbala 72, martyred at the hands of the maniacal tyrant Yazid (L.A.) on Youm al-Ashoura 680 A.D. (61 A.H.), but also Sunnis, Sufis, Christians, Shabakis, Ezadis, Zoroastrians and even some Hindus too. Regardless of Islamic school of thought or faith, the people of spirituality, dignity and anti-oppression stand as one Husseini unit on Arbaeen because the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) is a symbol of defiance and rejection of despotism for all of humankind.
