Hizbullah likens Saudi aggression on Yemen to Zionist atrocities in Gaza

Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has blasted the ongoing Saudi military aggression against Yemen, comparing the move to the Israeli atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.

“What Saudi Arabia is committing [in Yemen] is identical to what Israel commits in Gaza,” Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Naim Qassem said in a Thursday interview with France 24.

Israel has blockaded the Gaza Strip for over seven years, causing a humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian enclave. The Israeli regime has also launched three wars on Gaza, the latest of which came in summer 2014, when nearly 2,200 Palestinians were killed and over 11,100 others injured. The 50-day war ended with an Egyptian-brokered truce.

Qassem said the Saudi war “is about attacking infrastructure and shelling civilians.” Continue reading Hizbullah likens Saudi aggression on Yemen to Zionist atrocities in Gaza

Zionist-Wahhabi Alliance At Work: Saudis and Bloomberg Set Up New TV Channel

by Zeinab Hawi, Al-Akhbar English

After several delays, new TV station Al-Arab TV will finally go live in early February 2015. The station will be on the air at a time of intense media polarization, representing a continuation of the Saudi-Qatari conflict. However, the station promises to be neutral and to focus on economic issues. It could be said, however, that Al-Arab TV will be similar to the Al-Arabiya model.

The countdown has begun for the launching of Al-Arab news channel in February 2015. The station is owned by the Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, according to an announcement made by its chief executive officer Fahd al-Sukait yesterday during a press conference held in Bahrain’s capital, Manama. In the meantime, an extensive advertising campaign is underway featuring the channel’s logo, which bears a striking similarity to the logo of the Rotana channels, in green and golden colors. Riyadh nips Hezbollah-Future Movement dialogue in the bud

Riyadh has ‘red-lighted’ the planned dialogue between Hezbollah and the Future Movement before it even began. The Saudi call for Hezbollah to be put on the list of terrorist organizations made at the United Nations threatens to renew tension between the two sides, following an undeclared truce in the media that did not last for more than a few days.

Is there a fixed Saudi, and consequently Gulf policy, vis-à-vis Lebanon? Are these countries really keen on the stability of this country, as they claim, when they hardly spare any occasion to exacerbate its divisions? These questions and others are being asked after the new Saudi escalation against Hezbollah, which is likely to aggravate the already complex situation in Lebanon and the region. Al-Arabiya echoes Zionist rhetoric in reporting about al-Aqsa

by Zeinab Hawi, Al-Akhbar English

It was rather normal for Al-Arabiya news channel to retract its story about the unprecedented closure of al-Aqsa Mosque on October 28. The channel may have thought that the terminology it used would go unnoticed. However, Al-Arabiya later deleted the story from its website after having caused an online backlash for echoing Zionist rhetoric.

In an act further promoting Zionist terminology, the Saudi news channel replaced al-Aqsa Mosque with the “the holy compound,” a term usually reserved for Zionists in their reference to the holy site. Continue reading Al-Arabiya echoes Zionist rhetoric in reporting about al-Aqsa
