DM Hossein Dehqan: Iran, Russia Finalizing Date of S-300 Delivery

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan announced on Thursday that Tehran and Moscow have worked out an agreement on the delivery of the Russian-made S-300 air defense systems to Iran and are now having final discussions over the date of the delivery.

“The agreement on the delivery of S-300 missile system has been finalized and the only remaining issue is the date of delivery now,” Brigadier General Dehqan told reporters in Moscow today.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday removed the ban on the delivery of the missile shield to Iran.

Dehqan said a public announcement will be made as soon as final talks over the exact delivery date end.

36 years after the revolution, Iran here is to stay

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime in 1979, ending virtually 2,500 years of monarchical rule, and will see nationwide rallies on Feb. 11, the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. In the 36 years since mass protests deposed the monarchy in Iran, the country has struggled with immense challenges. After the Islamic Republic’sestablishment by way of a popular referendum, Iran endured a period of chaotic instability, with various armed factions seeking to undermine the nascent government.

Amid this volatility, Iran was invaded by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, whose army was supported by most global powers and against whose aggression Iranians of all walks of life defended their country. After the devastatingly costly war — during which hundreds of thousands of Iranians and Iraqis died, many under the barrage of Saddam’s chemical weapons — the country started the arduous process of attempting to rebuild. Iran to Produce Modern Combat Aircraft to Trace US, Israeli Stealth Planes

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian Air Force commander announced on Sunday that the country is planning to build a new high-tech combat aircraft capable of tracing US and Israeli modern and stealth planes.

“… we will manufacture an aircraft on Saeqeh platform which will be equipped with Fourth generation (and even higher) avionics …,” Commander of Air Force’s Owj Complex Colonel Houshang Monfaredzadeh said in an exclusive interview with FNA on Sunday.

He reiterated that Iran is reaching a level of expertise that it will soon be able to manufacture a totally different aircraft in terms of electronic, radar and avionic systems as well as weaponry equipment.

Iran deploys ‘real Iron Dome’ missile defense system

Iran says it has activated its own “real Iron Dome” missile defense system, which makes the airspace above the Islamic Republic the safest in the Middle East.

“Today Iran’s Air Defense System has provided our country with an Iron Dome in its real sense and Iran’s airspace is the safest in the region,” said Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabifard, vice speaker of Iran’s parliament, as quoted by local Fars news agency. Iran Starts Mass Production of Homemade Fighter Jet

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Air Force Spokesman General Hossein Chitforoush announced on Wednesday that the country has started production of its home-made Saeqeh fighter jets in large numbers.

“The fighter jet is now on the way of mass-production,” Chitforoush said in an interview with the state-run news agency.

He reminded the double-cockpit model of Saeqeh that was unveiled last year, and said Iran now has several squadrons of Saeqeh, while the future generations of the fighter jet will even be more advanced.

Iranian Armed Forces introduce suicide drones

The Iranian Army Ground Force has for the first time utilized a type of suicide drone in the military exercise underway in the country’s south and southeast, a senior army commander announced.

“The (suicide) drone can be used for hitting the aerial and ground targets and can carry out an attack when it identifies a suspicious target,” Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told reporters on Friday. Iran Unveils RPG-7 Laser Simulator

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Wednesday unveiled a laser simulator for RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and hand grenades in a ceremony in the Southern province of Kerman.

“With the aim of decreasing the training costs and higher safety for forces who are being trained, a laser simulator for launching RPG7 rocket-propelled and hand grenades was unveiled in the provincial Abouzar base in Jiroft city,” Mehdi Soleimani, the training officer at Abouzar base, told FNA today. Iranian Researchers Unveil New UAV

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian researchers unveiled the world’s smallest drone, ‘Soleiman (Solomon)’ which can be used for both civilian and military missions, including wiretapping.

“The drone can be used for a wide variety of missions, including magnifying and reinvigorating communication signals, tracking enemy signals and wiretapping, electronic warfare, marine patrol and surveillance, jamming radars, aerial mapping and cartography, forest preservation, etc.,” Director of Soleiman Project Marziyeh Ehterami said in the Western province of Lorestan on Sunday.

She added that the drone can also carry loads lighter than 33kg.

East Caspian railway project proves futility of sanctions against Iran

A senior Iranian official says the East Caspian Sea railway project between Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will prove that sanctions against Tehran have failed to affect the Islamic Republic’s ties with regional countries.

“The inauguration of this huge project will prove that cruel international and unilateral sanctions [against Tehran] have had no impact on regional countries’ desire for the expansion of cooperation with Iran,” Presidential Office’s Deputy for Communications and Publicity Parviz Esmaeili said on Monday.
