Sheikh Na’im Qassem: Hizbullah will keep backing Palestinian Resistance

Hezbollah’s deputy secretary general says the Lebanese resistance movement will continue its support for Palestinian groups resisting against the Israeli regime, Press TV reports.

“We support all forms of resistance that the Palestinians used. This is their legitimate right to confront their enemy. Hezbollah is based on resisting occupation, this is our main goal,” Sheikh Naim Qassem told an international conference held in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Senior members of Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements as well as representatives from around the world took part in the Second Global Convention of Solidarity with Palestine on Tuesday.

The participants at the conference expressed support for the Palestinian cause, discussing ways to increase resistance against the Israeli regime.

Senior Hamas official Ismail Haniyeh joined the conference via satellite from the Gaza Strip to emphasize the right of Palestinians to return to their homeland.

“We must stand with Gaza, which had to endure a blockade for more than seven years as well as multiple wars. It is the resistance who forced the Israeli enemy to leave Gaza,” said Haniyeh.

“The Zionist enemy will not achieve its goals with its aggression because the resistance has the upper hand,” he added.

Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Fathali, another participant at the conference, said, “This conference brings unity and cooperation between all denominations of Muslims as well as non-Muslims. The conference had a lot of attendees from Latin and North America. We hope that the result of this conference is to bring unity between all Palestinian factions.”

The conference comes as the Gaza Strip has been under Israeli siege since 2007.
In the recent weeks there have been high tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories over the desecration of Jerusalem Al-Quds by Israelis.
